David Hawes is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology, University of Sydney. He is involved extensively in the training of Clinical Psychologists in postgraduate and community health settings, and is a consulting editor of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Associate Professor Hawes’ research examines developmental (including neurobiological) aspects of aggression and oppositional behaviour, and the translation of this evidence into family-based interventions (including e-health). This includes research with vulnerable populations such as maltreated children, rural families, and those involved with New South Wales Juvenile Justice. He is co-author of a widely disseminated treatment for child conduct problems (Dadds & Hawes, 2006), and has published guidelines for the evidence-based assessment of parenting practices in numerous international handbooks. Associate Professor Hawes holds an honorary position with Karitane (South Western Sydney Local Health District) and currently collaborates with international research partners in Asia, the UK and the US.
