Who designed the training?

The training has been developed by a team of psychologists and researchers at the University of Sydney. The training is part of the Like Father Like Son project, which is proudly funded by the Movember Foundation. Find out more about the project.

What will the training cover?

The training will cover topics such as:

  • Research Background on father engagement
  • Current barriers and obstacles to father engagement
  • How to positively engage with fathers
  • Building confidence in managing conflict
  • Planning for future father-inclusive practice

What is not covered in the training?

This program focuses on general engagement strategies for fathers. This program does not address techniques on how to manage specific issues such as domestic violence, substance use, and significant mental health issues. If you are interested in finding out more about how to manage these issues, please find a specialised training program that focuses on these specific topics.

Who can participate?

The training is designed for:

  • Staff in Australia working in services or organisations that deliver parenting programs. This includes practitioners who work directly with families as well as other support staff (such as administrative staff, managers, etc.) who do not work directly with families.
